People spend more than 90% of their time indoors, and, as such, improving indoor lighting quality can enhance life by positively influencing both physiological and psychological aspects. Numerous studies suggest that perceptions a space vary depending on number attributes present. Significant effort has been made across various fields to identify the spatial conditions impact human perception, although we lack explore these in tandem. This paper investigates how interior influence impressions room ambiance. The study examines 16 different scenes, considering factors such sky condition (sunny vs. overcast), shading blinds position (open closed), presence or absence electric light (on off), Correlated Color Temperature (CCT) (2700 K, 4000 6500 K). evaluation is conducted within an office environment at Carnegie Mellon University, using combination objective metrics subjective assessments. In total, 26 participants, consisting 11 females, 14 males, one undisclosed, aged between 18 50, evaluated ambiance under semantic differential scales. analysis showed variation CCT levels significantly influenced participants’ impression light. also identified statistically significant interactions “blinds CCT” sky” conditions, highlighting combined variables shaping impressions. research offers valuable insights into complex interplay perceptions, underscores importance optimizing for creating healthy sustainable environments.

White light emitting diodes (wLEDs) have been widely used as the green lighting sources. The commercial wLEDs devices are mainly achieved through combination of blue emission chips and yellow phosphors, which offer advantages high efficiency long lifetime. However, color rendering index (CRI) traditional is low due to lack red components. In recent years, with improvement quality life, a lot efforts paid improve performance related CRI, correlated temperature, uniformity, luminous flux, etc. this article, we summarize advances on optimization toward healthy lighting. Brief introductions fundamentals effect presented, followed by discussions current methods realize devices. Special overviews strategies for luminescent materials in years presented. opportunities challenges future development also discussed.
