Biophilic design introduces a variety of sensory elements into the built environment, incorporating natural experience daily life. From environmental psychology aspect, effects multisensory stimulus are not result simply adding uni-sensory stimuli, and interactive among approaches need to be considered. With demand for promoting health well-being, increasing numbers studies began investigate systems other than just visual cue biophilic design. This review focuses on effect human psychological physiological responses as well cognitive function. We summarized empirical evidence interactions between two three modalities from existing research. In addition, we systematically key methods technologies used in experimental that explore benefits terms study types population, exposure simulation, benefit measurement, process finally identified some knowledge gaps future directions interaction perspective. Purpose Residing in a densely populated urban area possesses its allure; nonetheless, it can significantly impact physical and mental well-being owing to the persistent stress information overload inherent settings. This study aims introduce neuro-urbanism framework that guide planners designers quantitatively evaluating individuals' responses virtual simulated environments. Design/methodology/approach Our consisted of two phases after randomly selecting six locations representing three types areas Bratislava, Slovakia: spaces, streets, public parks. First, we conducted Mentimeter live polling (dialogic survey fusion), followed by an experiment involving volunteer participants from Slovak University Technology. employed electroencephalogram (EEG) with reality headsets virtually explore participants' selected locations. Findings The EEG signal analysis revealed significant differences relaxation levels across this study. Urban streets commercial activities promote more effectively than parks, challenging preconception restorative environments are exclusively confined Originality/value results demonstrate replicable comprising distinct stages: problem-based technology rooted neuroscience, experimental setup deliverables, identification

This study aimed to investigate the effects of prolonged inhalation nature-derived odors indoors on humans. Twenty-six women participated in this study. Heart rate variability, heart rate, blood pressure, pulse estradiol, testosterone, and cortisol were used as indicators autonomic nervous system endocrine activities. Profile mood state, state–trait anxiety inventory, menopause rating scale general sleep disturbance psychological indicators. The order was follows: After participants relaxed a chair for 5 min, their variability measured 3 min with eyes closed. Subsequently, pressure measured, salivary samples collected analyses, subjective assessment conducted. received diffuser containing fir essential oil instructed its usage precautions. they returned home inhaled week. 7 days, revisited laboratory posttest measurements, conducted at same time pretest. Prolonged resulted increased estradiol concentration, decreased systolic diastolic relief menopausal symptoms, reduced levels, improved quality states. induced physiological relaxation women.

Contact with nature is believed to enhance mental health through the process of human psychological restoration. However, prolonged indoor living limits individuals’ exposure nature, potentially hindering timely alleviation stress and fatigue induced by work. While biophilic design recognized as a potential solution, its impact on restoration has not been extensively studied, particularly in relation various patterns. Therefore, it important determine restorative effects different patterns their combination order guide practical application design. In this study, two typical attention were measured using subjective scales, cognitive tasks, functional near-infrared spectroscopy (fNIRS) simulated real workspace. The results suggest significant enhancement performance physiological benefits when combining patterns, while single pattern does yield same effect. These findings contribute better understanding improvement workspaces, enhancing users’ experience well-being.
