Streets are the fundamental public space where people move and socialize within cities. Their attractiveness depends on a wide variety of factors, with solar accessibility emerging as crucial in cold climates to guarantee thermal comfort stimulate presence people. This article presents methodological approach evaluate prioritize streets based high latitude urban environments (Trondheim, Norway). For this purpose, two novel indices, hours direct sunlight irradiation metrics, introduced, while calibrated pedestrian model is applied for predicted flows. The results highlight generally favorable summer over entire year, especially Urban morphology variables (i.e., street width building height) impact during mid-season, whereas tree coverage has significant effect summer. presented provides authorities planners descriptive prescriptive planning instrument adequate accessibility. Moreover, findings study can support development regulations, policies, strategies (e.g., profile changes, management trees, demolitions, use reflective materials) aiming at conserving restoring outdoor spaces extensive areas.

Purpose This review investigates the significance of passive solar systems and bioclimatic building designs in improving thermal comfort across various African regions. The study evaluates current papers publications, focusing on best practice standards, scientific developments possibility achieving maximum varied temperature zones. Design/methodology/approach research utilised a systematic approach to analyse design. It involved 175 documents sourced from Web Science (WOS) Scopus databases, peer-reviewed publications 1992 2023 as well Regulations Standards for Thermal Comfort established countries. Findings shows how integrating into architecture greatly increases lowers energy consumption buildings. Nevertheless, significant gaps exist using these different climates. Maintaining modifying is essential tackling distinct environmental issues faced by continent. Research limitations/implications While this provides thorough analysis, it acknowledges complexity local settings construction practices, recognising potential limitations available literature. implications include call further technological advancements address refine optimal performance. Originality/value bridges knowledge about design principles can be efficiently used climates areas. Furthermore, incorporates recent advances procedure ensure that findings are relevant.

The integration of renewable energy systems (RES) into microgrids faces challenges from technical, economic, and socio-environmental perspectives. Despite their potential to address access climate change challenges, RES-based face significant barriers, including technical complexities, economic constraints, socio-cultural resistance, regulatory inadequacies, environmental concerns. Some the issues, like intermittency lack compatibility with other sources, are managed by management (EMS) integrated battery systems. These barriers include high capital investment unpredictable revenue which addressable through chosen microgrid architecture, flexible payment structures, tariffs. Community opposition local knowledge overcome employing mitigation measures that pertain partaking in planning processes developing training programs. gaps addressed use standardized policy as well streamlined permitting procedures, while issues application life cycle assessment (LCA)-based solutions environmentally sustainable materials. Furthermore, paper addresses more recent developments, artificial intelligence (AI), peer-to-peer (P2P) trading, an emphasis on improvement prospects. Finally, implications presented, stressing need for systemic observed tendencies. This systematically reviews multifaceted integrating RES microgrids. It presents innovative solutions, AI-driven management, modular designs, frameworks enhance efficiency, reliability, sustainability a scalable transition. review provides diverse view future growth several insights stakeholders related development technology making transition sustainable.
