A heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning system is designed for the entire space but falls short in meeting diverse individual needs. Therefore, personalized environmental control proposed to address thermal requirements it has been widely accepted produced have significant practical value humans. In order enhance comfort level based on PECS, impact of airflow direction towards head terms physiological psychological sensations was investigated. Different directions were considered as follows: front blowing (FB-PV), side (SB-PV), back (BB-PV), top (TB-PV), a group No-PV. total 56 participants invited assess environment, their skin temperature measured. The results revealed that improved reduced mean by 0.4–0.6 °C, with FB-PV showing particularly promising results. TB-PV demonstrated highest score +1.05 (slightly higher than “Just comfortable (+1)”) scored significantly overall willingness at +1.21 (higher “Willing (+1)”). Conversely, resulted discomfort due restricted breathing under continuous condition.

This study presents a methodological framework for assessing the energy performance of Personal Environmental Control Systems (PECS), aiming to address existing gaps in standardized evaluation approaches. Initially, systematic approach delineate distinct spatial control volumes associated with PECS is presented, facilitating classification and comparison various system types. Utilizing this framework, introduces definitions efficiency effectiveness specific PECS, providing procedure experimental assessment quantities related these definitions. To validate proposed method was applied an illustrative case involving two under varying operational conditions – heating cooling. The results provide insights into evaluated highlighting framework's applicability their efficiency. underscores importance systematically evaluating performance, offering robust methodology that can guide future research development efforts domain.
