ABSTRACT The uniaxially stretched blend films comprising poly(butylene adipate‐co‐terephthalate) (PBAT) and poly(ε‐caprolactone) (PCL) were prepared using a twin‐screw extruder with the objective of modifying properties PBAT film. mechanical properties, gas permeability potential applications in cherry tomatoes modified determined evaluated. addition PCL resulted notable increase stiffness films. Nevertheless, no alterations observed oxygen comparison to neat CO 2 water vapour exhibited decrease initially then upon addition, reaching minimum value at 20% addition. Notably, ratio O PBAT/PCL exceeds 8.1 5°C, which is about four times higher than that PE film (1.75). It can therefore be concluded displayed preservative effect on packaged packaging applications. This was evidenced by maintenance high extremely low concentrations inside packaging, inhibited postharvest respiration rate tomatoes. utilization PBAT/PCL20 could effectively reduce decline hardness, weight, soluble solids ascorbic acid content caused long‐term storage, especially temperature condition. Consequently, exhibit considerable promise as passive atmosphere material for fruits vegetables.

Banana (Musa acuminate) has been popular among consumers worldwide due to its rich nutrients and minerals. However, bananas are highly susceptible the physical biological factors that lead postharvest loss during transportation storage. In this work, novel sodium alginate (SA) films incorporated with silver nitroprusside nanoparticles (AgNNPs) were prepared extend shelf life of through antibacterial antioxidant coating. The results exhibited AgNNPs cubical their size was <500 nm, metal composition being Ag Fe. Additionally, incorporation in SA film seen FE-SEM zeta analysis, an average about 365.6 nm. Furthermore, functional crystalline properties assessed FTIR XRD. Transmittance testing SA-AgNNPs confirmed they have good UV barrier properties. excellent high activity against foodborne pathogens including L. monocytogenes, S. enterica, E. coli at concentration 500 µg/mL. Moreover, storage bananas, nanocomposite coatings act as a microbial contamination slow down ripening bananas. As result, compared SA-coated uncoated SA-AgNNPs-coated lowest weight total bacterial colonies, thus greatly extending life. Particularly when coated films, colonies (TBC) banana peel pulp low 1.13 × 103 51 CUF/g on ninth day storage, respectively. Our work offers efficient strategy improve quality period, extensive applications fruit preservation food packing.
