The application of metal-organic frameworks (MOFs) towards the adsorption antibiotics is a new and emerging area study. rise in use or misuse antibiotic products has exacerbated their ongoing presence persistence natural environment. Even at low concentrations, residues exert pressure on bacterial populations, eventually leading to emergence resistant bacteria. Metal-organic frameworks, known for high porosity, vast specific surface area, ease modification, have emerged be promising sustainable adsorbent. In an effort advance development this adsorbent, study provides state-of-the-art review recent research published from 2020 present, specifically examining MOFs removing aqueous solutions. Multiple MOF adsorbents were analyzed, with approximately 59% demonstrating significant capacity within pH range 6.0-8.0. 75% instances, system reached equilibrium under 2 hr. Adsorption capacities compared well other works literature exceeded conventional many instances. Notable cases performance MIL-53(Al) amoxicillin (AMX) SA-g-P3AP@MOF(Fe)/Ag neomycin where 758.5 625.0 mg/g attained, respectively. reusability was extensively reported laboratory batch scale. Analysis studies revealed most effective eluents acetone, ethanol, methanol, mostly 3-5 cycles attainable without appreciable loss efficiency. confirmed that are highly efficient antibiotics; however, there some areas warrant further development. It intended work will bring trends forefront, identify knowledge gaps, help guide future proposals.
