The ubiquitous use of insecticides leads to detrimental effects on non-target organisms due accidental exposure. Neonicotinoid are popularly used worldwide for their high affinity arthropod nicotinic receptors which effectively kill insect pests. Low towards vertebrate receptors, make them safer as compared traditional insecticides. Recent studies demonstrated that neonicotinoid exposure can cause some toxicity in vertebrates including humans. Zebrafish is one the popular model study ecotoxicity. This first adult zebrafish report effect novel neonicotinoid, Clothianidin mortality, liver antioxidant stress profile, function profile and brain acetylcholinesterase (AChE). Observations were made over two treatment periods, 96 hours, 21 days, five groups exposed varying concentrations viz. 30mg/L, 50mg/L, 70mg/L, 90mg/L, 110mg/L a control. Although no mortality was observed, led increased activity superoxide dismutase (SOD) enzyme, lipid peroxidation decreased catalase (CAT), glutathione-S-transferase (GST). Treated also showed enzyme alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) acid (ACP). These results indicate causes disturbances hepatic function. A prominent decreasing trend observed AChE shows inhibits zebrafish. Further investigations DNA damage gene expression could be conducted understand exact mechanism action
