We herein report the acid/base-steered two distinct reaction pathways of 2-acylbenzoic acids with isatoic anhydrides. In presence Na2CO3, cascade process consists cyclization 2-acetylbenzoic acid and nucleophilic ring-opening anhydride to furnish isobenzofuranone derivatives high efficiency. However, p-toluenesulfonic can promote product isobenzofuranones undergo sequential intramolecular rearrangment, addition produce diverse isoindolobenzoxazinones in good yields. The synthetic utility this method was further demonstrated by gram-scale preparation desired products facile transformations resulting products.

Abstract A silver-catalyzed dearomative decarboxylative [3+2] spiroannulation of aryl oxamic acids with alkynes is described. The reaction provides reliable access to a range azaspiro[4,5]trienones in moderate yields aqueous media. In addition, the exhibits broad substrate scope and good functional group compatibility.
