Enhancing the "antenna effect" of ligands and promoting energy transfer to a lanthanide metal center is one most effective ways construct complex-based emitters with bright emissions. Herein, highly stable nanoclusters (Ln9Zn8; Ln = Dy, Tb, Eu, or Gd) were constructed using Zn(II) metalloligand protection strategy, "dual antenna was selectively turned on enhance luminescence Eu9Zn8. The enabled dual effect for Eu9Zn8, resulting in its solid state being significantly stronger than that Tb9Zn8. Eu9Zn8 has excellent optical sensing properties Al3+, Fe3+, Cr2O72–. Notably, ultrasmall nanocluster showed cellular uptake labeling capabilities after incubation HeLa, MDA–MB–231, HepG2, H9c2, 4T1, SK–OV–3, MCF–7 cells. This work opens up new horizons application biological imaging.

By using chloranilate anions to react with 3d complexes ([M(L)(H2O)2], H2L = 1,3-propanediylbis(2-iminomethylene-6-methoxy-phenol)) and 4f ions, a series of phenoxo- chloranilate-bridged zigzag M2Ln2 clusters (M Ni, Ln Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Eu for 1–5, respectively; M Zn, 6–10, respectively) have been obtained structurally characterized. They are rare 3d–4f heterometallic complexes. All the Tb derivatives exhibit characteristic emission peaks corresponding LnIII ion. Magnetic studies reveal that two Dy display field-induced single-molecule magnet properties energy barriers 7.44 K 3 50.64 8.

We report the synthesis and characterization of a symmetric dinucler DyIII complex (1) based on use bulk pentapyridyldiamine (BPA-TPA) bridging hydroquinone ligands. Each ion is wrapped by BPA-TPA ligand, leaving only one site to bond O donor atom from hydroquinone, which generates triangular dodecahedral coordinate geometry. Magnetic measurements reveal that 1 exhibits high anistropy barrier 727(4) K temperature hysteresis loops up 20 with remanence at zero field. However, Y(III)-diluted analogue 1@Y shows butterfly-shaped are closed This discrepancy clearly demonstrates positive effect axial magnetic interaction between dimer. The fascinating behavior ascribed pseudolinear ligand field an exceptionally short Dy–O bond, as confirmed theoretical calculations.

Two new seven coordinate Eu(III) and Gd(III) complexes have been synthesized from 5-hydroxy-1,4-naphthoquinone (HNQ). Elemental analysis, UV-Vis, FT-IR, thermal techniques all used to explore the structural characterization of these compounds. Moreover, cytotoxic activities photoluminescent characteristics were investigated. Complexes showed exhibit several emission bands in range 310-600 nm upon exciting at 275 nm. The metal-based f-f transitions. Also, effects ligands on HTB-54, A549, two non-small cell lung cancer cells, examined this work. For lines A549 ligant's IC50 values found be 23.40 μM 9.05 μM, respectively. Contrastingly, ligand exhibited no toxic BEAS-2B which is a type healthy line. Although complex compounds significant amounts cytotoxicity against they additionally had an equally effect cells.
