In this study, a series of condensed derivatives dehydroacetic acid with chalcone structure were synthesized by the Knevenagel reaction using isopropanol as solvent. The yield was 30–75%. It shown that obtained compounds are capable chelating rare earth metals, including La(III) ions. The inhibitory potential of an alcoholic extract derived from Canarium strictum leaves (CSL) was evaluated as a corrosion inhibitor for mild steel (MS) in 15% HCl solution. Furthermore, to enhance its inhibition effectiveness, the influence potassium iodide (KI) also examined. and adsorption characteristics CSL were comprehensively analysed through weight loss measurement, electrochemical impedance measurement (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization (PP), UV–visible spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR), atomic force microscopy (AFM), scanning electron energy dispersive (SEM–EDS). effect temperature immersion time on investigated. studied exhibited maximum efficiency 92.2% at 700 ppm alone, while adding 5 KI 96.8% observed. Moreover, with KI, 98% observed extended 48 h. PP results showed that + good mixed-type system. Adsorption data best fitted Langmuir isotherm model, thermodynamic, kinetic, surface analyses shed light mechanism.

An appropriate conventional method was employed to synthesize a new oxime-based ligand, 2,4-dihydroxybenzaldehyde oxime, and its transition metal (II) complexes with Mn Co ions. The coordination behavior, bonding nature, crystal structures of these were elucidated using spectroscopic techniques, including FT-IR, UV-Visible, powder X-ray diffraction. UV-Visible spectral analysis suggests that both exhibit an octahedral geometry. Additionally, molecular modeling through Density Functional Theory (DFT) calculations provided detailed insights into their electronic properties, stability trends, potential reactivity. optimized structural parameters, bond lengths angles, determined DFT the B3LYP functional 6-31G**, 6-311G**(d,p), LanL2DZ basis sets.
