Exploring the impact of telemedicine in chronic patients from diverse socioeconomic contexts: systematic review of qualitative studies

Background Telemedicine has a positive impact on improving health literacy and disease management ability of chronic patients reducing the medical burden. However, telemedicine still many problems in management. We should actively solve maximize functions telemedicine. Objective To explore application improvement self-management to provide important insights from functional module analysis for stakeholders, healthcare professionals, policymakers promote development Design conducted systematic review qualitative synthesis five English databases including PubMed, Embase, Web Science, Cochrane Database Systematic Reviews, Scopus, as well three Chinese databases: China National Knowledge Infrastructure (CNKI), WanFang VIP database. Databases were searched inception until November 12, 2024. Methods This is reported accordance with guidelines Enhancing Transparency Reporting Synthesis Qualitative Research (ENTREQ). Two reviewers independently performed study selection, data extraction, quality assessment using Joanna Briggs Institute's key tools research. Thematic was used synthesis. Results A total 35 studies included, contents refined summarized into 8 new subthemes. Then, four themes synthesized: Reminder supervisor, Access knowledge, Transition treatment mode, Emotional support platform. Conclusion By information quality, developing diverse functions, constructing multidisciplinary coordination mechanisms meet needs diseases, improve service system, function telemedicine, enhance stickiness use
