With the development of industry and agriculture, increasingly serious problems environmental pollution water quality deterioration that affect human health need to be solved. Materials containing both Fe Mn, two most abundant metal elements, have been widely used for wastewater decontamination since they are nontoxic, low-cost, easy prepare, highly efficient. This review systematically summarizes synthesis methods Fe–Mn-based unloaded materials (such as spinel-type, perovskite-type, layered double hydroxides, metal–organic framework, its derivatives) loaded (carbon materials, oxides, other materials). Furthermore, progress application in fields Fenton, photo-Fenton, electro-Fenton, persulfate, sulfite catalysis processes analyzed. Different activation mechanisms such radical pathways nonradical (like direct electron transfer pathways, singlet oxygen, high valence metals, etc.) described. Finally, potential remediation is clarified future research directions pointed out. It expected this can provide new inspiration subsequent on Fe–Mn based treatment.
