Photocatalytic degradation of pharmaceutical pollutants in water or wastewater is becoming a hot topic for environmental clean-up. Herein, novel CeFeCu trimetal oxide (CFC TMO)/Bi2O3 (CFCB) photocatalysts were prepared through precursor mixing, ultrasonication, and calcination methods used photocatalytic sulfamethoxazole (SMZ). The pseudo-first order kinetic rate CFCB-2 catalyst on SMZ reached 0.0577 min−1 which 4.93 10.02 times higher than α-Bi2O3 CFC TMO under visible light illumination. This was proved by the strong interaction between pristine materials as confirmed XPS density functional theory (DFT) calculations. DFT calculations indicated that having more orbital distribution could make it easier to capture electrons produce radicals electron transfer. Meanwhile by-products showed no sign cytotoxicity towards human embryonic kidney cell line (HEK 293) intestinal epithelial (CACO-2). findings scavenger experiments ESR measurements •OH •O2− played superior role decomposition SMZ. Furthermore, S-scheme charge carrier transfer pathway are proposed analysed. study paves ways into promising strategy construction based heterojunction decontamination can be extended other applications such Fenton-like reactions persulfate activation.

Abstract 3,4,9,10‐Perylenetetracarboxylic dianhydride (PDI) is one of the best n‐type organic semiconductors and an ideal light‐driven catalyst for lignin depolymerization. However, charge localization effect excessively strong intermolecular aggregation trend in PDI result rapid electron‐hole (e − −h + ) recombination, which limits photocatalytic performance. Herein, polymeric carbon nitride/polyhedral oligomeric silsesquioxane (p‐CN/P‐PDI) S‐scheme heterojunction photocatalyst was prepared by solvent evaporation‐deposition method C−C bond selective cleavage β‐O‐4 model. Based on material characterization results, synergic role polyhedral (POSS) maintains appropriate domains, achieves better solar light utilization, faster charge‐transfer efficiency, greater redox capacity. Notably, 3 % p‐CN/P‐PDI heterostructure exhibits a remarkable enhancement conversion achieving approximately 16.42 2.57 times higher rates compared to modified (POSS‐PDI) nitride (p‐CN), respectively.
