Self-heating membrane distillation has emerged as a promising method for seawater desalination due to its cost-effectiveness and high efficiency (MD) performance. However, the single energy input (solar or electrical energy) of current self-heating MD faces challenges such unstable freshwater production, consumption, intolerance oil contamination. To overcome these limitations, we develop novel Janus (CNT-PVA@CC/HPo-PVDF) that combines photothermal electrothermal effects local heating efficient phase separation. Our experimental numerical findings demonstrate solar coupled (SEMD) performance is influenced by working conditions. By optimizing flow velocity (0.06 g/s) electrical/solar ratio (1 sun 0.2 W), achieve remarkable water flux 4.3 kg m-2 h-1 (4.6 times better than conventional MD) an utilization 76.32%. Furthermore, exhibits excellent in silicone oil/brine emulsions 60 hrs; separable design allows replacing hydrophobic if it contaminated, which extends service life layer (CNT-PVA@CC). This study provides valuable insights development low-energy, low-cost, durable separation technology oil-contaminated seawater.

At present, poly-generation sustainable systems are highly promising pathways that could produce several beneficial energy outputs, such as electricity, heat, and freshwater, have the potential to fulfill financial competitiveness higher efficiencies. Considering great advantages of solar dish/Stirling cycle, this study introduces comprehensive theoretical modeling performance analysis a dish/Stirling-powered single effect distillation system (SDSPSEDS) for combined freshwater tri-production. A detailed mathematical model executed in MATLAB software based on balance opt-geometric approaches was established simulate SDSPSEDS operation dynamically. In order analyze its under real weather conditions Tabuk, KSA, four seasonal scenarios. The energetic hybrid is comprehensively evaluated terms net electric power, solar-to-electricity conversion efficiency, Stirling engine rejected distilled productivity, overall co-generation efficiency system. simulation results show daily electrical produced by 234.7, 194.6, 159.8, 190.0 kWh/day. contrast, production obtained 787.4, 657.3, 545.0, 650.0 kg/day June, September, January, March, respectively. Moreover, it also found increased 62.60%, 53.50%, 47.40%, 52.96% compared only average efficiencies 20.92%, 17.82%, 15.50%, 17.60% attained; same examined days, respectively when utilizing standalone power Thus, findings proved an efficient water rural areas with no piping network or grid.

To optimize the Laser-Induced Graphene (LIG) Janus membrane, this study investigates effects of membrane pore structure, polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) coating sequence and addition silver (Ag) nanoparticles towards its performance in distillation (MD). This also aims to enhance photothermal characteristics graphene while using electrical conductivity for simultaneous photo- electrothermal MD. Operating at same electro-thermal power input, LIG made by treating face with smaller pores (shiny side) gave an improved flux up 53.6% a decrease specific energy 35.4% compared that larger (dull side). The effect PDMS depends on structure. For structures, before laser irradiation (PDMS-BLSS) improvement 24.5% 19.7%, after (PDMS-ALSS). As (PDMS-BLDS) resulted reduction 20.8% increase 27.1%, (PDMS-ALDS). membranes embedded Ag led heating properties, improving 43.1–65.8% decreasing 15.2–30.5% maintaining similar properties. Carrying out MD indicates only Ag-doped synergistic whereby combined mode was higher than summation fluxes obtained when operating individual modes.
