Carbon dots (CDs), a class of carbon-based nanomaterials with dimensions less than 10 nm, have attracted significant interest since their discovery. They possess numerous excellent properties, such as tunability photoluminescence, environmental friendliness, low cost, and multifunctional applications. ABSTRACT Designing efficient photocatalyst has attracted extensive attention for treating polluted wastewater containing Cr (VI). In this work, two viologen/polyoxometalate (POM)‐based compounds were synthesized, [Ni (mimb) 2 (H O) 4 (β‐Mo 8 O 26 )]·4H ( 1 ) and [Zn (mimb = 1‐((3,5‐dimethylisoxazol‐4‐yl)methyl)‐[4,4′‐bipyridin]‐1‐ium), through a hydrothermal method investigated their ability of photocatalytic reduction The structures 1–2 characterized by single‐crystal X‐ray diffraction, revealing that both possess zero‐dimensional (0D) structure can form one‐dimensional (1D) chain hydrogen bondings. Photocatalytic experiments demonstrate compound superior performance compared to . Abstract One‐dimensional photonic crystals (1D PCs) emerged as superb sensing platforms due to their high sensitivity environmental changes. However, effectively translating the microscopic interactions between covalent organic frameworks (COFs) and analytes into macroscopic optical responses via 1D PCs for intuitive detection presents a significant challenge. Here, we propose stepwise‐induced synthesis strategy that first time achieves size‐controlled of uniform nanoscale COFs (60–80 nm), leading high‐quality COF layer. This advancement enables COF‐based exhibit diverse color variations controllable saturation. Notably, excellent compatibility layer with inorganic oxides, polymers, metal‐organic (MOFs) results in these exhibiting bright colors. Crucially, introducing mesoporous materials achieve deep integration adsorption recognition functions volatile compounds (VOCs). The fabricated COF/MOF PC allows differentiation 12 VOCs visually detects at different concentrations (0–80 g m − 3 ) through changes, response under 1 s.
