Abstract Water is the source of life and civilization, but water icing causes catastrophic damage to human diverse industrial processes. Currently, superhydrophobic surfaces (inspired by lotus effect) aided anti‐icing attracts intensive attention due their energy‐free property. Here, recent advances in design functionalization are reviewed. The mechanisms advantages conventional, macrostructured, photothermal introduced turn. Conventional surfaces, as well macrostructured ones, easily lose icephobic property under extreme conditions, while strongly rely on solar illumination. To address above issues, a potentially smart strategy found developing storage (MPSS) which integrate functions materials, phase change materials (PCMs), expected achieve all‐day various fields. Finally, latest achievements MPSS showcasing immense potential, highlighted. Besides, perspectives future development provided problems that need be solved practical applications proposed.

Photothermal superhydrophobic coatings are supposed promising to prevent ice accumulation on infrastructures but often experience significant performance degradation in real icing conditions and lack mechanical robustness. Here, we report design of robust photothermal with three-tier hierarchical micro-/nano-/nanostructures by deposition nanosized MOFs natural attapulgite nanorods, fluorination, controlled phase separation a hydrophobic adhesive spraying assembly. Phase degree content significantly influence the coatings' properties regulating structural parameters morphology. In simulated/real environments, simultaneously show (i) high superhydrophobicity stable Cassie-Baxter states due their low-surface-energy, micro-/nano-/nanostructure, (ii) excellent effect primarily MOFs, (iii) good robustness phase-separated adhesive, reinforcement self-similar structure. Endowing superhydrophobic coatings (SHCs) with photothermal properties has become a promising approach to overcoming the icephobic performance failure of SHCs in low-temperature and high-humidity environments. However, reported rely on petroleum-based resources are nonrecyclable, which is not conducive resource conservation environmental protection. In addition, they also prone external damage that shortens their service life. Herein, fully biobased epoxy vitrimer self-healing closed-recyclability was prepared by curing epoxidized soybean oil (ESO) imine-containing agent derived from 1,10-diaminodecane vanillin. Subsequently, multiwalled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) were planted surface ESO-based create coating, taking advantage dissolution swelling behavior solvents. MWCNTs can spontaneously form micro/nanostructures due planting method, endowing coating excellent anti/deicing (ice delaying time: 622 s, ice adhesion strength: 11.2 kPa) deicing (remove frost or within 30 s). More importantly, possessed ability for thanks effect bond exchangeability vitrimer, beneficial achieving remote precise self-healing. At same time, dynamic imine bonds give closed-loop recycling. This study guiding significance sustainable development recycling composite coatings.
