Biodegradable magnesium alloys for orthopedic bone fixation have been introduced various fields of application. The corrosion resistance implants weakens in physicochemical environments and is further compromised during post-implantation inflammation. In this study, Mn3O4-incorporated plasma electrolyte oxidation (PEO) coatings were developed on Mg-Zn-Ca substrate through two approaches: the addition KMnO4 salt inclusion Mn3O4 nanoparticles into composition. Incorporating additives electrolytes led to a reduction surface porosity an increase coating thickness both synthesis approaches. electrochemical immersion tests conducted under simulated normal conditions inflammatory conditions, where solutions prepared with hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) hydrochloric (HCl) acid. Both studies revealed that inflammation significantly increased rate uncoated biomaterial, escalating from approximately 2 mm·y-1 16 mm·y-1. Moreover, showed composite PEO coatings, incorporating (MnPR-PEO), demonstrated superior performance among all coated samples. Potentiodynamic polarization results indicated substantial current density, decreasing 73.9 μA·cm−2 basic 5.5 MnPR-PEO coatings. improved attributed their catalytic H2O2 scavenging, suggests promise implants, offering enhanced potential biomedical application benefits.
