Abstract The capacitive properties of supercapacitors highly rely on the reasonable design high‐performance electrode materials. Herein, a synergetic strategy pre‐oxidation and pre‐carbonization is proposed to prepare coal tar pitch (CTP) based porous carbon. formation mechanism carbon revealed. Pre‐oxidation increases heteroatom content promotes decomposition polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons into small molecules, which more conducive improving subsequent activation enhancing microporous specific surface area. Also, autoclave polymerization precursors yield. Benefiting from synergistic effect pre‐carbonation, obtained exhibits superior capacitance 365 F g −1 . Meanwhile, ZnCl 2 used as hydrogen‐bonding acceptor synthesize ‐EG/PVA deep eutectic solvent (DES) gel, it applicable acidic, neutral, alkaline electrolytes. capacitor assembled with prepared DES gel electrolyte achieves high energy density 41.3 Wh kg works well in unconventional temperatures (−40–75 °C). This work confirms fabrication CTP‐based material expects using other pre‐oxidation/carbonization agents.
