Abstract Using the renewable energy, especially solar is an environmental-friendly approach for seawater desalination. Solar evaporation a promising freshwater harvesting strategy rich in including and water energy. Herein, we propose hybrid hydrogel polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) glutaraldehyde (GA) as polymer network, semiconductor oxide nanoparticles (ZnO, CuO) activated carbon photothermal material. Structural properties of were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis, surface morphology field emission scanning electron microscope (FE-SEM), chemical bonding Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) optical absorption coefficient (α) components UV–Vis spectroscopy. The result showed visible region, PVA:ZnO:AC nanocomposite has strong (55%) compare PVA:CuO:AC (35%). In addition, distillation measurements, evaporator system demonstrated Hydrogel rate 2.29 kg m −2 h −1 5.19 with efficiency 30.66% 70.80%, respectively, under 0.1 sun irradiation. For hydrogel, hardness Caspian decreased from 6648 to 115 ppm ion conductance 8641 (μS) 244 97 206 (μS). Experiments that changing type ZnO or CuO can effectively on regulate evaporator. Eventually, this work begins new point synthesizing cost-effective absorbers based metal oxides material nanocomposite.
