With advances in technology, diagnostic techniques have become more sophisticated and efficient at detecting biomarkers rapidly. Biomarkers such as microRNA (miRNA), which exhibit exceptional specificity sensitivity compared with other biomarkers, garnered particular interest. Composed of 21–24 nucleotides, miRNAs constitute a noncoding RNA group that regulates gene expression, immune system activation, apoptosis, cellular processes; hence, they are frequently used for various diseases. This has sparked significant interest regarding the identification specific implicated many Presently, miRNA detection methods include northern blots, reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction, next-generation sequencing. While these all sensitive, time-consuming, complex, expensive, renders them unsuitable on-site detection. Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) can overcome limitations to enable sensitive rapid miRNA. technique amplifies signals, signal enhancement levels changing sensitively depending on distance between target molecule substrate. Therefore, this review covers principle SERS method using nanomaterials, along examples nanomaterials applications. Based available literature, is anticipated convenient, early diagnosis diseases, potentially lowering mortality rates. could therefore contribute significantly advancement medical technologies.
