2-methylfuran is a significant organic chemical raw material which can be produced by hydrolysis, dehydration, and selective hydrogenation of biomass hemicellulose. converted into value-added chemicals liquid fuels. This article reviews the latest progress in synthesis fuel precursors through hydroxyalkylation/alkylation reactions biomass-derived carbonyl compounds recent years. reacts with olefins Diels-Alder to produce chemicals, anhydrides (or carboxylic acids) acylated products. In future application 2-methylfuran, developing high high-density fuels are two good research directions.
