In recent years, multivalent metal-ion batteries (MMIBs) have garnered significant attention and research interest because of their abundant natural reserves, low cost, high safety. However, in practical applications, owing to the charge density metal ions strong interaction between intercalated ion cathode, cathode exhibits capacity poor cycle stability. Therefore, it is crucial explore suitable materials for use MMIBs. MXenes are novel two-dimensional that developed rapidly field energy storage. The current as cathodes MMIBs has not yet been systematically summarized. This review summarizes evolution achievements MXene-based MMIBs, including derivatives, MXene/transition oxide composites, MXene/sulfur-based material MXene/selenium-based other MXene composites. Finally, challenges future development advanced discussed.
