Carbon Capture Utilisation and Storage (CCUS) technologies have become increasingly important to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions combat climate change. One promising avenue of CCUS is the use industrial waste streams as feedstock for CO2 sequestration. Iron steel slag, by-products manufacturing, shown potential effective adsorbents. This current work thus provides a comprehensive review production chemical composition iron slags its in sequestration, synthesis nanocomposite hydrogels via sol–gel method, applications emerging trends The process viable technique hydrogels, offering high surface area, tunable porosity, enhanced reactivity suitable CO₂ highlighted calcium oxide content reactive sites slags, facilitating sequestration through carbonation.
