Abstract Early postnatal development is a critical period for the configuration of neural networks that support emotional and socio-affective behaviors. In this sense, children raised in stressful environments are at high risk developing maladaptive behaviors immediately or later life, including anti-social aggressive However, neurobiological bases such phenomena remain poorly understood. Here we showed that, long-term, maternal separation with early weaning (MSEW) decreased density somatostatin (SST) interneurons basolateral amygdala (BLA) females males, while their activity was only reduced medial (MeA) males. Interestingly, hypoactivity resulted increased aggressivity low social interest. To test whether manipulation MeA SST+ sufficient to reverse these negative behavioral outcomes, chemogenetically expressed hM3Dq receptors MSEW adult We found activation ameliorated interaction aggression traits. Altogether, our results highlight role neurons regulation interest point loss as plausible etiological mechanism linking life stress life.

Summary Exploring why individuals vary in their willingness to exert effort is pivotal for understanding human motivation. Here, we utilized proton magnetic resonance spectroscopy ( 1 H-MRS) at 7 Tesla on the dorsomedial prefrontal cortex/dorsal anterior cingulate cortex (dmPFC/dACC) and insula (AI) uncover neurometabolic factors that influence these differences. Computational modeling machine learning revealed a model established dmPFC/dACC metabolites explains decisions high mental sensitivity but not physical effort. Glutamate, aspartate, lactate were identified as key discriminative dmPFC/dACC, predictive of choices, whereas AI metabolism did relate effort-related decisions. Notably, there was correlation between plasma levels, suggesting metabolic link peripheral central biomarkers Our findings provide novel insights into underpinnings motivated behavior propose effort-based decision-making.

Abstract Social animals, including rodents, primates, and humans, partake in competition for finite resources, thereby establishing social hierarchies wherein an individual’s standing influences diverse behaviors. Understanding the neurobiological underpinnings of dominance is imperative, given its ramifications health, survival, reproduction. behavior comprises several facets, recognition, decision-making, actions, indicating concerted involvement multiple brain regions orchestrating this behavior. While extensive research has been dedicated to elucidating neurobiology interaction, recent studies have increasingly delved into adverse behaviors such as hierarchy. This review focuses on latest advancements comprehending mechanisms mesocorticolimbic circuit governing dominance, with a specific focus rodent studies, intricate dynamics their implications individual well-being adaptation.

Early postnatal development is a critical period for the configuration of neural networks that support social and affective-like behaviors. In this sense, children raised in stressful environments are at high risk to develop maladaptive behaviors immediately or later life, including anti-social aggressive However, neurobiological bases such phenomena remain poorly understood. Here we showed that, long-term, maternal separation with early weaning (MSEW) decreased density somatostatin-expressing (SST+) neurons basolateral amygdala (BLA) females males, while their activity was only reduced medial (MeA) males. Interestingly, MSEW males exhibited long-term behavioral effects, sociability novelty preference 3-chamber test (3CH), interest resident-intruder (RI), increased aggressivity both RI tube dominance (TT). To whether manipulation MeASST+ sufficient reverse these negative outcomes, expressed chemogenetic excitatory receptor hM3Dq adult We found activation ameliorated aggression traits TT assays. Altogether, our results highlight role regulation point loss as plausible etiological mechanism linking life stress life.
