Nearly three decades since the discovery of high entropy alloys (HEAs), it has greeted a broad interest in field materials research as better alternative to conventional alloy due exceptional combinatorial properties they offer terms lightweight, high-specific strength elevated temperatures, excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance (among others). Leveraging on "four core effects": high-entropy effect, sluggish/hysteretic diffusion severe-lattice-distortion effect cocktail which define special features responsible for their outstanding properties, HEAs have been successfully employed high-temperature applications automobile aerospace. An emerging sub-field is incorporation secondary strengthening phase that can be provided by precipitation intermetallic (IM) compounds enhance microstructure will concomitantly affect material (thermal, chemical mechanical properties) broader engineering applications. In this article, design concepts brewed from thermo-physical parameters calculation computational thermodynamics using CALPHAD-based tool were reviewed fundamental strategies development IM-containing HEAs.
