The viscosity of CaO‐SiO 2 ‐MgO‐Al O 3 ‐BaO‐MnO slag with a varying MnO content 0–8 wt% is continuously measured, and the polymerized network changes are clarified by Fourier transform infrared reflection spectroscopy X‐ray photoelectron spectroscopy. Thermodynamic calculation diffraction analysis conducted to determine crystal phases variations. Finally, relationship between different structural parameters discussed. results indicate that an increase in decreases from about ≈0.55 0.41 Pa·s at 1500 °C, 1.3 0.87 1400 °C. free running temperature also decreases. Ba 2+ Ca used for charge compensation [AlO 4 ], Mn mainly connects nonbridging oxygen depolymerize silicate network. precipitation significantly increases slag, involved formation phases. Structure analyses suggest leads decrease amount bridging oxygen, which reduces degree polymerization. In composition range blast furnace change within narrow range, has negative correlation NBO/ T optical basicity, yet positive Q .
