Linearly-coupled sigmoid bistable stochastic resonance for weak signal detection

Abstract The paper focuses on developing a stochastic resonance (SR) system designed for the detection of weak signals under alpha-stable-distributed noises. Initially, in view strong impulsive characteristics noises, linearly-coupled sigmoid bistable (LSBSR) is proposed, which constructed by potential function and function. Through formula derivation, it theoretically proved that output signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) LSBSR superior to classical SR system. Then, new signal processing strategy based introduced. Simulation experiments have demonstrated input SNR = −20 dB, probability exceeds 95% noise with α 1.5. When reduced 0.1, approaches 80%, significantly outperforming other methods. Finally, applied detect sea-trial an improvement 22.5 further validates practicability proposed
