In the context of surfactant-enhanced remediation polluted sites, this work focuses on development non-ionic alkylpolyglucosidic (APG) surfactant formulations with different additives for solubilization and mobilization strongly adsorbed organic pollutants. The study involved three consecutive phases to evaluate effect surface behavior potential improvement in alkylpolyglycoside surfactant’s capability solubilize toluene perchloroethylene (PCE), selected as reference contaminants. After a chemical–physical characterization phase, APG-based were first used batch configuration test, which formulations’ ability was indirectly assessed by observing pollutants’ adsorption. Lastly, continuous column experiment performed simulate flushing process synthetic matrix previously contaminated or PCE. results showed that presence firstly reduced form micelles, increasing CMC, but at same time improved reduce tension. Moreover, addition overall resulted significant pollutant removal minimal volume fed solution, reaching 96% 99% efficiencies PCE, respectively, compared 76% 92%, free-additive APG surfactant.
