Seasonal freeze–thaw action has been shown to influence the behaviors of heavy metals in soil by changing aggregate formation, stabilization, and breakdown. Using rare earth oxides tracing method, this study conducted in-situ seasonal experiments examine links between turnover cadmium (Cd) release kinetics black soil. Higher stability longer time aggregates after spring process than those just experienced autumn were found. Changes Cd distribution different during mainly driven transformations. Autumn events increased exchangeable amounts bulk ≥ 0.25 mm aggregates, while no difference was found for soils subjected events. The decreased released from soil, lowest snow-removed treatment. Redundancy analysis indicated that exchangeable, reducible, residual fractions accounted most variations release. This is first apply as an approach uncover role dynamics explaining environmental regions.

Abstract The microplastics (MPs) formed by broken plastic film may migrate in the soil under drip irrigation. To investigate migration distribution of MPs desert farmland irrigation conditions, our study was conducted on Xinjiang (China). A MP penetration testing device set up combination with methods to conduct a simulation experiment. results showed that amount significantly positively correlated irrigation, and negatively depth; addition, relationship between different types was: clay < sandy loam soil. Under rates were 30.51%, 19.41%, 10.29% soil, clay, respectively. ability these three particle sizes polyethylene ranked as follows: 25 147 μm > 0 250 μm. When volume 2.6 3.2 L, horizontal distances exceeded 5 cm, vertical reached more than 30 cm. Our findings provide reference data for migration. Environ Toxicol Chem 2024;43:1250–1259. © 2024 SETAC
