Abstract Toxic heavy metals, such as Pb(II) and Cd(II), pose serious environmental health risks, stressing the urgent demand for innovative sustainable techniques to reduce their adverse effects. This study investigates use of sugar beet biowaste an eco-friendly biosorbent removal Cd(II) from aqueous solutions, in both laboratory industrial effluents. Characterization through scanning electron microscopy, X-ray diffraction, thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, energy-dispersive spectroscopy revealed formation stable hydrocerussite otavite, confirming chemisorption. Approximately 95% employed is composed calcium (Ca), carbon (C), oxygen (O). The zeta potential was measured at − 17.5 mV with a point zero charge pH 8.0, total surface area approximately 7.72 m 2 g −1 , Langmuir 11.563 pore volume 0.028 cm 3 . Various parameters, metal concentration, dosage, pH, temperature, contact time, were optimized, achieving maximum within 60 min 12 328 K. Sorption followed pseudo-second-order kinetic model (R = 0.99) Freundlich isotherm 0.98), high sorption capacities 466.5 mg 505.6 Cd(II). Thermodynamic analysis indicated that process spontaneous, thermodynamically favorable, endothermic. effectively removed metals demonstrated efficiencies exceeding 85% most effluent samples Alexandria Ain Sokhna. capacity ratio values close 1 indicate effective uptake minimal interference, even presence methylene blue dye. Comparative untreated more efficient than typical biosorbents, economic cost evaluation processing costs 1.05 USD/kg, highlighting its economically viable option treatment supporting broader goals.

Abstract In this study, the nanoparticles (NPs) of ZnO and Co 2+ ions doped (doped ZnO) were incorporated into a matrix polysulfone (PSf) membranes to enhance their surface properties prepared using simple wet phase inversion technique. The hybrid PSf fabricated with 0.5 wt. % NPs. These characterized XRD, TGA, FESEM-EDX, salt rejection performance. hydrophilicity was improved by adding NPs which showed decrease in contact angle values from 82° 62° an increased flux water. Among membranes, highest for both sodium chloride (NaCl) sulfate (Na 2 SO 4 ) compared pure confirm improvement water permeability. Overall, results study that embedding small amount has significant potential be applied industrial-scale membrane applications.

The presence of chromium [Cr(VI)] and lead [Pb(II)] ions in the water bodies have adverse effects on humans aquatic life. Graphene oxide-based magnetic nanocomposites synthesized chitosan (mGO/CS) or polyaniline (mGO/PA) as potential adsorbents for removal Cr(VI) Pb(II) ions. FTIR (Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy), EDX (Energy dispersive X-ray), XRD (X-ray diffraction) SEM (Scanning electron microscopy) were employed to investigate chemical composition, structural, elemental analysis, crystalline size morphology nanocomposites. results confirmed synthesis by detecting peaks specific functional groups. average crystallite sizes mGO, mGO/CS, mGO/PA 17, 25, 23 (nm), respectively, determined Debye-Scherrer equation from data. Batch adsorption experiments conducted varying variables like pH, concentration metal contact time. Box Behnken design (BBD) was used optimize parameters. Toxic metal wastewater is a challenge for exposed terrestrial and aquatic environments, as well the recyclability of water, prompting inputs development promising treatment methods. Consequently, rGO/ZnONP nanocomposite was synthesized at room temperature four hours tested adsorption cadmium lead in wastewater. The optimized had lowest band gap energy (2.69 eV), functional group interactions were 516, 1220, 1732, 3009, 3460 cm−1. showed good ZnO nanoparticle size distribution separation on rGO surfaces. nanocomposite’s D G intensities almost same, constituting presence from Raman spectrum. equilibrium time reached within 10 90 min with efficiencies ~100%.
