Population growth drives food industries to seek large-scale production technologies, often involving organic compounds that can negatively impact the environment. One example is 17α-methyltestosterone (17MT), a hormone used masculinize Nile tilapia, genetically changing females phenotypically males. Endocrine disruptors such as 17MT cause harm health, affecting and reproduction of organisms, persist in environment leading compromise chains due bioaccumulation. Different techniques for quantifying removing 17MT, advanced oxidative processes, nanofiltration systems wetlands, have been developed order minimize impacts on environment, biota human beings, search balance productivity sustainability. The objective this work was carry out bibliographical research endocrine disruptor including characterization, its occurrence possible effects health.

Recently, the extensive use of antibiotics has unavoidably resulted in discharge significant quantities these drugs into environment, causing contamination and fostering antibiotic resistance. Among various approaches employed to tackle this problem, heterogeneous photocatalysis emerged as a technique for degradation. This study explores potential CeO2 photocatalyst degradation chloramphenicol. Supercritical antisolvent (SAS) processing was successfully synthesize precursor nanoparticles. After thermal annealing, samples were characterized through UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy evaluate band gap energy values. Raman FT-IR confirmed presence oxygen vacancies lattice. During photocatalytic experiments, derived from SAS-processed exhibited superior performance compared catalyst synthesized non-micronized precursor. Various annealing temperatures tune vacancy CeO2. Furthermore, impact dosage chloramphenicol concentration investigated. Under optimal reaction conditions (25 mg L-1 2.25 g dosage), efficiency 64% achieved. Finally, elucidate mechanism, different scavengers (EDTA, benzoquinone, isopropyl alcohol) utilized, revealing that superoxide radical is primary species responsible

In this work, the effect of electro-assisted Fenton (EAF) process on bacterial community a moving bed biofilm reactor (MBBR) for olive mill wastewater (OMW) co-treatment with urban (UWW) was investigated. According to metagenomic analysis, pre-treatment by EAF, while removing total phenols (TPHs) up 84 % ± 3 and improving biodegradability OMW from 0.38 0.62, led emergence genera in MBBR (R2) that were not detected under conditions without (R1). Indeed, condition, Candidatus Competibacter replaced Amaricoccus as dominant denitrifying bacteria. both cases, composition matched high simultaneous nitrification-denitrification efficiency (up 98 %). Finally, Chlorobium (2.5-4.1 %), sulphate-reducing bacteria Geobacter 1.6 0.4 anaerobic utilise iron oxides, observed exclusively EAF application, suggesting potential development new integrated microbial electrochemical systems.
