Tetracycline is often used in treating various diseases or infections, which also leads to severe environmental threats due its toxicity, durability, and low biodegradation. Meanwhile, although ultrasound (US)-assisted activation of persulfate (PS) a promising technology for water wastewater treatment, reaction mechanism still not well-defined. Herein, we explored the effect enhanced ultrasonic peroxymonosulfate (PMS) on degradation tetracycline hydrochloride (TCH). The findings revealed that US/PMS system was highly effective degrading TCH, achieving an 83.2% efficiency TCH concentration 10 mg/L within 3 h. Moreover, combination radical quenching experiments electron paramagnetic resonance (EPR) analysis confirmed generation different types reactive radicals (such as sulfate (SO4•−), hydroxyl (•OH), superoxide anions (•O2−), singlet oxygen (1O2)) upon PMS under cavitation. Thus, US-assisted more strategy efficient removal refractory organic contaminants wastewater.

An analysis of the physical and chemical phenomena accompanying electrical discharges was carried out, principal factors inactivating microorganisms is studied.
