To solve the problems of water and air pollution, adsorption functional materials (ASFMs) have been extensively investigated applied. Among preparation methods ASFM, electron beam radiation (EBR) has attracted much attention for its high efficiency, environmental friendliness, wide applicability. Based on introduction application EBR technology, ASFM is summarized by grafting cross-linking. Secondly, corresponding metal ions, inorganic anions, dyes, drugs chemical raw materials, carbon dioxide systematically. Then, mechanisms are illustrated, according to different pollutants. Finally, progress, issues, prospects technology discussed.

The adsorption of Fe(III) onto the surface microplastics (MPs) enhances their toxicity and mobility in aquatic environments, posing a serious threat to human health ecosystem balance. This study investigated mechanism influencing factors on three types MPs with varying particle sizes aging degrees using batch experiments freshwater saltwater. Machine learning (ML) techniques were employed predict capacity conduct attribution analysis. results showed that both saltwater followed Pseudo-First-Order kinetics Langmuir isotherms, indicating monolayer homogeneous physical reaction driven by oxygen-containing functional groups, hydrogen bonds aromatic rings MP surface. for was higher than saltwater, positively correlated degree pH value, but negatively size. Among tested ML models, Random Forest Gaussian Process Regression models Bayesian Optimization performed well predicting capacity, value identified as key based SHAP conducted comprehensive investigation behavior between water, providing valuable insights risk assessment prevention pollution environments.

Microplastic (MP) contamination in soil is an emerging environmental concern, influencing the mobility and bioavailability of heavy metals (HMs). This study investigates how different MP types (PP, PS, PVC, HDPE, LDPE, PES, PET-Glitter) affect HM behavior soil, focusing on sorption/desorption, extraction efficiency Pb, Cu, Co, Ni, Cr, Cd. Soil samples incubated with MPs showed significant pH increases, particularly PES HDPE at 0.8 0.6 units, respectively. The experiments using 0.05 M EDTA 0.01 CaCl2 revealed that altered metal bioavailability—with reducing Pb by 15%—and increased Cd Co 10–20%. batch sorption tests confirmed higher adsorption onto but decreased compared to control soils without MP. These findings demonstrate act as additional sites, modifying speciation availability, which has critical implications for health, agricultural sustainability, remediation strategies. However, results may vary based type, aging, conditions, indicating need further long-term field studies. research provides valuable insights into complex interactions between MPs, metals, systems, contributing a better understanding pollution dynamics risk assessment contaminated environments.
