Understanding the role of mangroves in microplastic (MPs) bioaccumulation is crucial to addressing pollution these ecosystems, particularly restored areas. Here, we 1) evaluate MPs plastic-biota-sediment accumulation factor (pBSAf) fiddler crab Minuca rapax and 2) describe type, colour, polymeric characteristics areas with varying restoration degradation levels Southern Gulf Mexico. We used regression models mangrove tree height, basal area, individuals' density explaining pBSAf. The highest pBSAf values were observed natural areas, those higher densities taller trees. more diverse composition both crabs sediments from Mangrove biota tissue's may provide insights into ecosystem health food web impacts indicate progress.
