Hydroquinone (HQ) in wastewater is of great concern, as it harmful to human health and threatens the ecological environment. However, existing adsorbents have low adsorption capacity for HQ. To improve removal HQ, N,S-codoped activated carbon-ZIF-67 (NSAC-ZIF-67@C) was synthesized this study by situ growth ZIF-67 on carbon (NSAC) carbonization. The influence pH, contact time, initial concentration behaviors NSAC-ZIF-67@C HQ were investigated. Owing synergistic effect abundant active sites well-developed pore structure, achieved a prominent 962 mg·g–1 can still retain high performance after 5 cycles which superior that reported other adsorbents. follows pseudo-second-order kinetics model (R2 = 0.99999) Freundlich isotherm model. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis before well density functional theory (DFT) calculation results showed pyridinic-N-termini conducive π–π interactions hydrogen-bonding interactions. Therefore, mechanisms involve filling, electrostatic attraction, interaction, hydrogen bonding. This expected provide reference designing highly effective treatment.

This study investigates the synergistic effects of alginate@montmorillonite (Alg@Mt) hybrid microcapsules for enhancing water purification, focusing on improving encapsulation hydrophobic contaminants. Alg@Mt were prepared through ionotropic gelation. Characterisation was performed using SEM-EDX, FTIR, XRD, and TGA. Encapsulation efficiency (EE), loading capacity (LC), release behaviour also examined. effectively removed phenol its chlorinated derivatives from water. Incorporating Na-Mt improved structural thermal properties, EE, LC.
