This study investigated a link between adverse community environments and childhood experiences (ACEs) using the pair of ACEs (POA) framework to better understand members’ perspectives on how they were impacted across lifespan by their experiences. In addition, we identified mitigating factors that played role for participants in building individual resilience. Researchers utilized community-based participatory research approach conjunction with qualitative methodology explore 15 members. Nine themes emerged identifying both adversity protective family, community, institutional, structural levels. Findings have implications counseling profession terms practice, education, advocacy, future research.
