ABSTRACT Understanding and quantifying household economic risk constitutes a critical research agenda in financial economics. This systematic review evaluates methodological approaches to assess vulnerabilities through both individual composite indicators. Leveraging longitudinal data from the China Household Finance Survey (CHFS), we develop tripartite measurement framework encompassing fragility, poverty vulnerability, insolvency risk. Through comprehensive descriptive analysis, examine evolving patterns, spatial distribution, demographic characteristics of risks Chinese households 2011 2023. We find that while vulnerability has experienced marked decline, have shown concurrent rise. Furthermore, demonstrates significant group heterogeneity, with rural households, western aging less educated healthy private‐sector employed exhibiting higher metrics compared their counterparties.
