Abstract Microextraction methods such as hollow fibre‐liquid phase microextraction (HF‐LPME), dispersive liquid–liquid (DLLME), single‐drop (SDME) and ultrasound‐assisted emulsification (USAEME) have become prominent for analysing pharmaceuticals in wastewater. HF‐LPME, particularly the three‐phase system, excels extracting pollutants with high efficiency. SDME, especially direct immersion (DI) variant, is effective moderately polar non‐polar compounds. DLLME uses an immiscible dispersion extraction solvent to separate analytes, while USAEME enhances using ultrasonic waves. Recent research trends focus on incorporating ionic liquids deep eutectic solvents improve performance. These miniaturized techniques offer selectivity, efficient sample clean‐up significant enrichment factors, making them superior traditional like extraction. Future developments are expected further refine these even better performance pharmaceutical analysis. Complex‐Green Analytical Procedure Index (GAPI) also used assess environmentally friendliness of methodological approaches.

Abstract Background Different types of analytical methods, with different characteristics, are applied in metabolomics and lipidomics research include untargeted, targeted semi-targeted methods. Ultra High Performance Liquid Chromatography-Mass Spectrometry is one the most frequently measurement instruments because its ability to detect a large number water-soluble lipid metabolites over wide range concentrations short analysis times. Methods for detection quantification differ can either report (normalised) peak area or an absolute concentration. Aim review In this tutorial we aim (1) define similarities differences between approaches (2) how amounts endogenous be determined together advantages limitations each approach relation accuracy precision when reported. Key scientific concepts The pre-analysis knowledge targeted, requirement responses reported whether method applied. Fully untargeted methods only provide fold changes which even structural identity metabolite not known. Targeted where analytes known prior analysis, also changes. Semi-targeted apply mix characteristics both assays. For reporting metabolites, predefined but optimized should developed validated analyte so that concentration data collected biological samples as fit purpose reviewed by community.

We report the investigation of electropolymerised molecularly imprinted polymers (E-MIPs) for determination dioctyl phthalate (DOP). Low-cost and eco-friendly commercially available screen-printed electrodes (SPEs) were used. E-MIPs produced using cyclic voltammetry (CV) technique based on a water-soluble 4-aminophenol as functional monomer. DOP showed affinity template, with 80% binding efficiency an imprinting factor 3. The able to detect absolute levels in time-dependent adsorption manner presence 250 μg (equivalent 12.8 μM) detected 5 min LOD (at 15 min) 177.1 LOQ 536.6 making them suitable measurement freshwater when sample is pre-concentrated.
