Background: Remanufacturing products for sustainability involves layout and production planning, tools equipment, material arrangement handling, inventory management, technology integration, more. This study presents an empirical vision through a discrete event simulation (DES) model integrating lean manufacturing (LM) supply chain (SC) strategies with industry 4.0 (I4.0) technologies, applied to case in railway company. Methods: The work scenarios following methodology incremental approach implement of the context I4.0 their effects represented DES models applicability remanufacturing line management. Five were analyzed according layered incrementally. Results: Behaviors outcomes compared across considering remanufactured engines, percentage process time, human labor occupation, statistical analysis capability. Scenario five achieved objective 40 engines one year cycle time 214.45 h. Conclusions: purpose was design engine incorporating LM SC via model, highlighting importance gradual adoption toward implementation. integration previous improves flexibility productivity processes.
