The Xuanwei Formation’s claystones in the Dian-Qian District of Southwest China are rich rare-earth elements (REEs), suggesting their potential as a source medium and heavy rare earths. However, REE content these rocks is lower than other types deposits, interrelationship among clay minerals intricate. There no direct evidence indicating mineralization REEs, limiting beneficiation extraction. objective this study characterization distribution District. sedimentary district mainly composed kaolinite, boehmite, quartz, rutile, pyrite. results continuous chemical extraction REE-rich claystone transmission electron microscope (TEM) observations have confirmed that REEs occurred florencite rocks, ion-absorption state makes only negligible contribution to content. A close relationship between kaolinite traditional mineral processing operations very difficult. Combined with properties roasting-acid leaching was efficacious approach for resources extracted from earth-rich Formation.

The surface properties of bastnaesite and parisite are similar to their associated gangue mineral, fluorite, which makes the flotation separation these two rare earth minerals from fluorite one industry’s most significant challenges. This study systematically investigates inhibitory effects mechanisms sodium silicate (SS) on bastnaesite, parisite, in an octyl hydroxamic acid (OHA) collector system through experiments, various modern analytical methods, DFT simulations. test results indicate that inhibition SS three order: > bastnaesite. Detection analysis forms hydrophilic complexes with Ca atoms surfaces enhancing hydrophilicity inhibiting OHA adsorption, but its impact is relatively minor. simulation show covalent bonds metal ions mineral surfaces, favoring five-membered hydroxamic-(O-O)-Ce/Ca complexes, reacts more strongly Ce than atoms. primarily via SiO(OH)3− component, compete for adsorption surfaces. has a stronger affinity whereas shows highest followed by weakest
