The COVID-19 outbreak has been related to a decrease in the use of metropolitan public transport (PT). However, new thinking is required gain insights into how pandemic impacts people's loyalty towards transport. This chapter contributes better understanding mentioned problem by discussing on range population groups have different levels bus and train services. To support discussion, cross-sectional questionnaire disseminated Metropolitan Area Madrid. data analyzed through two methodological phases: (i) clustering respondents homogeneous based loyalty's components (overall satisfaction toward PT, intention PT after pandemic, willingness recommend previous experience); (ii) running Kruskal-Wallis Mann-Whitney tests establish existence statistically significant differences between previously identified. identifies three for service (loyal users, neutral disloyal users), while (quasi-loyal users). Bus users show be regarding their socioeconomic characteristics as well perceptions bus. clusters are only relation train. closes with discussion some concluding remarks that highlight need continue exploring areas against disruptive future events.

The unprecedented COVID-19 outbreak has significantly influenced our daily life, and COVID-19's spread is inevitably associated with human mobility. Given the pandemic's severity extent of spread, a timely comprehensive synthesis current state research needed to understand impact on mobility corresponding government measures. This study examined relevant literature published present (March 2023), identified trends, conducted systematic review evidence regarding transport's response COVID-19. We key agendas synthesized results, examining: (1) changes by transport modes analyzed regardless policy implementation, using empirical data survey data; (2) effect diverse interventions reduce limit controversial issues travel restriction effects; (3) future issues. findings showed strong relationship between pandemic mobility, significant impacts decreased overall remarkable drop in transit ridership, behavior, improved traffic safety. Government implemented various non-pharmaceutical countermeasures, such as city lockdowns, restrictions, social distancing. Many studies were effective. However, some researchers reported inconsistent outcomes. provides urban planners valuable insights facilitate better preparation for health emergencies that affect transportation.

Micromobility using fully-electric two-wheeled vehicles is increasing in cities worldwide. E-scooters, whether shared or privately-owned, provide short door-to-door trips by facilitating the first/last mile stage of journey. They are expected to improve livability reducing harmful emissions and space occupation. In this respect, understanding travel behavior usage patterns essential regulate them appropriately. The purpose study determine individuals' sociodemographic variables, mobility-related attributes, latent constructs influencing e-scooter usage. To that end, an individual-level model estimated explain adoption frequency use both private e-scooters based on survey data. research takes city Madrid as a case study, contributes deeper differences privately-owned e-scooters, with particular focus influence mobility habits attitudinal variables. complemented some insights at trip-level, which shows substitution caused walking trips, their limited ability promote modal shifts from car. Finally, provides valuable implications for urban dynamics feedback policymakers transport planners.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a worldwide disruptive event that impacted, to greater or lesser extent, all countries and economic activities. In the transport sector, stakeholders are still dealing with learning from its consequences, as many users have changed their preferences towards private less sustainable modes. this paper, mixed logit modelling approach was applied vast database stated preference survey conducted in Germany assess influence of on mobility three different stages period: lockdown (high-risk spread, May 2020), post-lockdown (medium risk June period where number infected cases lower (small October 2020). Several variables were included analysis, such sociodemographic characteristics, habits regarding future solutions. Three models developed, one for each stage. A comprehensive reflective analysis models' results, aligned other studies' findings, shows utility public (PuT) bicycles, based individuals' characteristics choice attributes, compared cars affected by state. Regarding crowding inside PuT during periods, it concluded more willing pay an extra monthly passes available seats latter stage pandemic. availability dedicated bike lanes shower at destination considered attractive factors cycling phase. car use, cost parking is only attribute demonstrates causal effect using mode. This holds relevance "new normal" periods. results study can be helpful guide policymakers definition actions counteract increasing disruptions.

The COVID-19 pandemic brought about a significant change in mobility habits within cities, leading to decrease the use of collective urban transport many countries that has been only partially and unevenly reversed. In this context, cities are analyzing what factors hindering recovery process design actions promote sustainable mobility. Thus, study, carried out city Almeria (Spain), tried analyze whether main operating variables municipal bus network (frequency, average vehicle occupancy, length lines, or suburban character, circularity, nodality, intermodality) have an impact on annual number users recovered 2022 compared 2019. Although strong statistical correlation between was not observed, overall results show lines most as well nodal serve key centroids such university, highlighting dependence public might be important determinant process, more than other representative service’s intrinsic quality frequency occupancy. This result shows importance facilitating those who lack alternatives, convenience restrictions less transportation alternatives for prompt space lost by transportation.
