The COVID-19 pandemic has had an impact on every aspect of human life and economic sectors such as transportation operations around the world. This paper tries to investigate how factors influenced driving customer handling behaviors urban public operators in Addis Ababa city, Ethiopia. To that end, a framework mixed research, pre/post study design, protection motivation theory (PMT) was used guide development, quantification, analysis causal relationships pandemic-related constructs behaviors. examined behavior variables included harsh speeding, braking, drink-drive events concerning time period before during outbreak. Customer also operationalized terms level friendly care provided customers. As result, primary data were collected through transport surveys 143 randomly selected transit operators, including city buses, midsize minibuses, bajajs, light rail transits. Furthermore, contingency indexes, likert scales, binary logistic regression models estimate predict most significant affected behavior. Findings showed new response measure-related impacting pandemic. Driving frequencies intentions, well decisions or choices, significantly reduced. Due factors, speeding braking became more frequent compared pre-COVID period. Additionally, correlation between other mainly trip distance traveled, risky nighttime hours, requests, significant. due impacts COVID-19, government measures, changes behavior, predominantly unfriendly. revealed performance PMT relevant, it could inform studies understand analysis. Thus, policymakers must learn from lessons make bold investments preparedness, prevention, response, pandemic-sensitive strategies customer-oriented strategies.

The COVID-19 pandemic has been a global and threat to humankind. In addition many cases of illness millions deaths, the economy social interactions have suffered. It remarkably declined overall transportation mobility in most countries. However, given that there is gap between environmental sustainability awareness what practiced by transport users, goal this study was empirically assess mediating role casual links perceived risks ecologically sustainable use. identified relevant theories, conceptual frameworks, variables. Mixed research surveys were carried out on public private service users Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Comparative analysis, structural equation modeling, causal model framework applied estimate relationships among variables test hypotheses. Despite rising human-caused climate change denial beliefs, findings revealed large part causes are change, biodiversity misuse, wildlife degradation, all which nature anthropogenic. People as more risk others than themselves, or warming become danger humanity, mainly during pandemic. Accordingly, increased people’s passengers’ environment, caused them give greater consideration environmentally attractiveness they This, turn, encouraged people take personal climate-friendly measures pro-environmental behavior, willingness use before. Thus, total effect anxiety completely mediated enhanced awareness. These evidence strengthened promoted action context industry developing informs urban planning policy need consider pandemic-sensitive innovative health systems, integrated education, one approach, smart city. suggests maintaining societies encouraging mitigate through urgent actions modal shifts such transportation.

This study examines situation preferences before after process through a survey study. A total 471 people participated in survey, 30 questions were posed to participants regarding modes preference, usage habits, public rate, income status, perceived risk level systems, process, more. answers classified, evaluated statistically analysed. results showed that users significantly by their mode use buses urban journeys decreased, private vehicles increased process.
