In my long career as a cardiologist, I have had the privilege to care for variety of patients. The memory 2 them remains particularly vivid, after many years encountering them. received referral from an oncology colleague lovely 45-year-old lady who unfortunately developed dilated cardiomyopathy receiving doxorubicin breast cancer. We worked several together, and she maintained stable left ventricular ejection fraction some time, adhering her therapy with beta-blockers angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors. At time there were no angiotensin receptor blocker/neprilysin sodium-glucose cotransporter inhibitors, mineralocorticoid antagonists not frequently used. She eventually decompensated heart failure reduced fraction, mostly due poor diet, lack exercise, excessive reliance on benefit drugs in isolation. On numerous occasions we talked about undertaking rehabilitation program, but regularly voiced concerns ability attend classes owing work schedule, family life, transportation centre, etc. second patient was lean athletic 60-year-old man referred me previous patient. Objective Prior research has identified that people with Parkinson’s reporting lower levels of self-efficacy exhibit worsening motor and non-motor symptomology, reduced quality life, self-management. Our key objective was to conduct a scoping review examining the impact digital health technologies on in Parkinson’s. Design A using Arksey O’Malley’s (2005) framework undertaken. Data sources MEDLINE, Embase, PsychINFO, CINAHL, Web Science, IEEE Xplore, Google Scholar principally for grey literature were searched from 1 January 2008 24th July 2024. Eligibility criteria selecting studies Primary which incorporated technologies, measured had sample population searched. extraction synthesis Following identification potentially eligible records, two independent reviewers undertook title abstract screening, followed by full-text screening. extracted our earlier published data sheet Practical Reviews Self-Management Support (PRISMS) taxonomy, template intervention description replication (TIDieR) checklist. Microsoft Excel spreadsheet synthesised describing themes, demographic numerical data. Results From 33 165 unique records following screening reviewers, 11 found. Of these five elevated statistically significant level, did not one lowered self-efficacy. raised all adopted multimodal approach variety devices. Thematically, devices focused physical activity, falls/falls prevention, or both. The level heterogeneity precluded comparisons between studies. Conclusions This knowledge evidence gaps literature, limited number make findings generalisable. Future self-management might benefit also considering

BACKGROUND Heart failure is a growing global health concern. Exergaming promising alternative to conventional exercise programs for patients with heart (HF). However, existing research has limitations, and the integration of exergaming into clinical practice remains challenging. OBJECTIVE The aims this study were design develop an prototype (i.e., HEFMOB), which encompasses lower limb aerobic game upper coordination mobilization game, assess usability prototype. METHODS evaluation had two phases: initial assessment by researchers, user-rated analysis single session 10 (4 women) HF. sessions recorded individually evaluated researchers using Serious Game Usability Evaluator (SGUE) tool. After each session, participants completed System Scale (SUS) subscale Intrinsic Motivation Inventory (IMI) rate enjoyment, respectively. Participants reported more negative events (e.g., confusion [n = 76]) than neutral (n 49) positive 11). RESULTS mean ± standard deviation (SD) SUS score was 71.5 17.8 SD IMI 25.1 3.5, showing good high level interest, CONCLUSIONS HEFMOB represents significant step in developing customized CHF. seems usable, experienced satisfaction session. Future required conclusively demonstrate efficacy effectiveness HEFMOB.
