Abstract Although there are many studies on CO 2 adsorption via PEI‐modified carbon particles, metal–organic frameworks, zeolitic imidazolate and silica‐based porous structures, only a limited number of solely cross‐linked PEI‐based structures. Here, the capacities microgels cryogels were investigated. The effects various parameters influencing capacity for example, crosslinker types, PEI types (branched [bPEI] or linear [lPEI]), adsorbent (microgel cryogel), chemical‐modification including their complexes examined. NaOH‐treated glycerol diglycidyl ether (GDE) crosslinked lPEI exhibited higher among other with 0.094 ± 0.006 mmol /g at 900 mm Hg, 25°C 2‐ 7.5‐fold increase upon pentaethylenehexamine (PEHA) modification Ba(II) metal ion complexing, respectively. bPEI lPEI‐based compared found that lPEI‐GDE had than bPEI‐GDE 0.188 0.01 Hg 25°C. reuse revealed GDE showed promising potential, after 10‐times repeated use >50% was retained. results affirmed encouraging materials capture applications.
