The recycling of clay waste from construction debris highly depends on the chemical and mineralogical composition waste. Clays minerals are known to be among marginal waste, representing an interesting opportunity platform produce other low-cost low-carbon materials due their possibilities for functional material design, such as adsorbents, drug delivery, catalysts photocatalysts, nanocomposites. present review analyzes a wide variety mechanisms encapsulating organic inorganic species between layers minerals. Through compilation advances in acid activation, exchange cations, intercalation, pillarization, new applications generated, paving way nanometric world with functional, magnetic, adsorption, catalytic capabilities. New trends consolidated reuse recycled clays infrastructure projects, hydraulic concrete, water purification, soil fertility, pigments paints, food packaging storage, ceramic appliances. It is concluded that suitable many industrial products materials, enabling reduction consumption raw materials.

Smart and Sustainable Built Environment, Journal Year: 2025, Volume and Issue: unknown

Published: March 21, 2025

Purpose Three-dimensional (3D) printing (3DP), which builds objects layer by layer, has gained traction in the construction industry for its potential to reduce time, cost and waste while boosting productivity. The circular economy (CE) model, an alternative traditional linear economy, focuses on minimising resource use promoting disassembly, material reuse recycling. By incorporating CE strategies, 3DP can manage more effectively, enhancing sustainability. However, there is a dearth of literature this convergence. Hence, study explores convergence with improve sustainability projects. Design/methodology/approach This employs qualitative research approach survey strategy, extensive review establish foundation domain. Data collection was conducted using Delphi technique, involved three iterative rounds semi-structured interviews experts. empirical data collected from expert were analysed manual content analysis. Findings findings reveal 12 positive 6 negative impacts sustainability, 10 applicable strategies. Further, how integrate strategies identified their level influence. Key such as designing out waste, waste-free production/waste management BIM-based highly influential across pillars. Identification of topical research issues using bibliometric data is complicated by the fact that citation publications from recent years has not yet been formed. In this paper, it proposed to use average journal over two rather than article estimate weight keyword occurring in sample under consideration. order identify terms characterize relevant topics, represent term co-occurrence network coordinates occurrence per year and normalized visualize graph. Furthermore, methodology proposes preprocessing keywords a lemmatization dictionary. 3,696 records for 2022–2024 ScienceDirect platform on topic industry digitalization were used analysis. The VOSviewer Scimago Graphica programs sequentially. former was display overall landscape study, while latter analyze more detail individual slices obtained with VOSviewer. A ‘convex hull’ facilitate perception cluster boundaries. After analysing highlighting terms, provide context quoting strings defining lesser-known terms. only technical technological issue but also an economic one, as evidenced such ‘digital economy’ ‘Industry 5.0’.

Recent research has focused on assessing the effectiveness of response surface methodology (RSM), a non-machine learning technique, and artificial neural networks (ANN), machine approach, for predicting concrete performance. This aims to predict simulate compressive strength that replaces cement fine aggregate with waste materials such as eggshell powder (ESP) glass (WGP) sustainable construction materials. In order ensure concrete’s durability structural integrity, evaluation is essential. Precise predictions maximize efficiency advance sustainability, particularly when dealing like ESP WGP. The (RSM) network (ANN) techniques are used accomplish this practical applications in built environment. A dataset comprising previously published was assess ANN RSM’s predictive generalization abilities. To model improve model, seven independent variables, while three cement, powder, improved RSM. Both RSM effective instruments strength, according statistical results, which include mean squared error (MSE), determination coefficient (R2), adjusted (R2 adj). able achieve R2 by 0.8729 0.7532 accuracy results 0.907 0.956 strength.
