This article aims to fill a gap in existing studies by examining methanol's prospects as cleaner marine vessel fuel and addressing the industry's challenges reducing pollution from ship oil. The analysis focuses on methanol decarbonization option, following its advantages compared others through data triangulation that uses both bottom-up top-down approaches examine safety concerns environmental impacts of methanol. findings support use promising alternative conventional fuels, considering regulations codes related low-flashpoint fuels specifying key measures. Also, container vessels (6% global fleet) consume 23% all annual bunker volume require nearly two-thirds demand, along with liquid bulk tankers dry carriers.
