Abstract Viral infections in plants pose major challenges to agriculture and global food security the twenty-first century. Plants have evolved a diverse range of specialized metabolites (PSMs) for defenses against pathogens. Although, PSMs-mediated plant-microorganism interactions been widely discovered, these are mainly confined plant-bacteria or plant-fungal interactions. PSM-mediated plant-virus interaction, however, is more complicated often due additional involvement virus spreading vectors. Here, we review classes PSMs their emerging roles involved antiviral resistances. In addition, evolutionary scenarios between plant, virus-transmitting vectors presented. These advancements comprehending biochemical language during not only lay foundation understanding potential co-evolution across life kingdoms, but also open gateway fundamental principles biological control strategies beyond. Abstract Polyunsaturated fatty acids (PUFAs) are essential nutrients for all living organisms. PUFA synthesis is mediated by Δ12 desaturases in plants and microorganisms, whereas animals usually obtain PUFAs through their diet. The whitefly Bemisia tabaci an extremely polyphagous agricultural pest that feeds on phloem sap of many do not always provide them with sufficient PUFAs. Here, a plant‐derived desaturase gene family BtFAD2 characterized B. it shows the BtFAD2‐9 enables to synthesize PUFAs, thereby significantly enhancing its fecundity. role reproduction further confirmed transferring Drosophila melanogaster , which also increases fruit fly's reproduction. These findings reveal extraordinary evolutionary scenario whereby phytophagous insect acquired plant genes nutrients, lessening nutritional dependency allowing feed reproduce host plants.

Insects employ terpenoids for communication both within and between species. While terpene synthases derived from isoprenyl diphosphate synthase have been shown to catalyze terpenoid biosynthesis in some insects, canonical (TPS) commonly found plants, fungi, bacteria were previously unidentified insects. This study reveals the presence of TPS genes likely originating via horizontal gene transfer noninsect arthropods. By examining 361 insect genomes, we identified five species Sciaridae family (fungus gnats). Additionally, Collembola (springtails) Acariformes (mites) among diverse Selected enzymes Sciaridae, Collembola, display monoterpene, sesquiterpene, and/or diterpene activities. Through comprehensive protein database search phylogenetic analysis, be most closely related those Acariformes, suggesting Sciaridae. Horizontal gene transfer (HGT) is a widely acknowledged phenomenon in prokaryotes for generating genetic diversity. However, the impact of this process eukaryotes, particularly interdomain HGT, topic debate. Although there have been observed biases HGT detection, little exploration has conducted on effects imbalanced databases. In our study, we experiments to assess how different databases affect detection using proteomes from Pezizomycotina fungal subphylum as focus group. Our objective was simulate database imbalance commonly found public biological databases, where bacterial and eukaryotic sequences are unevenly represented, demonstrate that an increase uploaded leads decrease predicted HGTs. For experiments, four with varying proportions but consistent were utilized. Abstract The interaction between insects and plants is a classic case of coevolution. During the arms race that has continued for 400 million years, mutualistic (such as pollination defense assistance) antagonistic relationships gradually formed complicated under selection pressure from phytophagous insects. Thus, have developed diverse strategies, constantly balancing relationship growth. At same time, evolved ability to adapt resist plant defenses. Throughout this process, phenotypic plasticity continuously helped both groups new environments niches. Epigenetic changes play an important role in formation plastic phenotype. These allow parental traits be passed on offspring, helping offspring insect feeding. genetic variation provide basis phenotypes, can form stable long-term feeding pressure. In review, we summarize strategies counter-defense insects, suggest plays interaction, discuss epigenetics phenotypes.
