This study presents a detailed investigation into the use of β-cyclodextrin (β-CD) encapsulated iron oxide nanoparticle (β-CD@Fe3O4) composites, modified with different ligands, to activate peroxymonosulfate (PMS) for degradation pharmaceutical contaminants, namely, diclofenac, carbamazepine, and erythromycin. The focus is on understanding ligand effect, particularly using citric acid (CIT), polyethyleneimine (PEI), cetyl trimethyl ammonium bromide (CTAB), performance these composites. Employing density functional theory (DFT) calculations, this work examines electronic structure charge distributions β-CD@Fe3O4 providing insights their interaction various pollutants. reveals that β-CD@PEI@Fe3O4 composite demonstrates superior efficiency due optimal electrostatic interactions, regardless pollutant’s hydrophobicity. On other hand, β-CD@CIT@Fe3O4 shows moderate efficiency, β-CD@CTAB@Fe3O4 exhibits selective hydrophobic compounds. These findings underscore significant role surface chemistry in modulating activation PMS opening avenues designing tailored β-CD composites environmental remediation.

Based on the excellent adsorption properties of carbon materials, a new magnetic nanodemulsifier was prepared in this study. First, nanotubes were oxidized using solvothermal method. Then, Fe3O4 combined with one-pot method, and then grafted onto fluorine-containing polyether to prepare composite demulsifier (Fe3O4@C-F) good demulsification properties. The surface morphology analyzed scanning electron microscopy (SEM). structure characterized Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy X-ray photoelectron spectrometry (XPS). stability thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). Results showed that fluorinated successfully attached Fe3O4. experimental objective obtain self-made crude oil emulsion. test recovery performance performed, main factors affecting investigated. when dosage 800 mg L-1, temperature 65 °C, time 90 min, pH value 6. effect Fe3O4@C-F best, whereby rate could reach 91.68%, oil-water interface clear. had response be recycled from two-phase system six times under action an external field. is efficient environmentally friendly has important application for enriching technology systems.
