Mild steel (MS) is one of the most widely used materials in industry. But, this metal corrodes easily, especially acidic solutions. Therefore, protection critical. The use inhibitors practical and economical ways achieving this. corrosion inhibition performance Pyronin B (PyB) for mild was investigated 1 M HCl solution using change open circuit potential with exposure time (Eocp-t), potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) linear polarization resistance (LPR) techniques. surface MS examined by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), energy dispersive X-ray (EDX), atomic force (AFM) contact angle measurements. stability PyB film formed on cyclic voltammetry (CV). excess charge inhibited estimated help EIS studies. experimental data were supported theoretical approaches such as density functional theory (DFT) calculations, molecular dynamics (MD) Monte Carlo simulations. It found that forms a uniformly distributed, dense, protective organic surface. molecules interact through combination physical chemical interactions, latter being dominant. acts mixed-type inhibitor, more pronounced effect anodic mechanism. Its efficiency depends its concentration, reaching 95.9% at 0.01 mM. inhibitor an without altering mechanism cathodic reaction reaction. overall kinetically controlled. exhibits very high under conditions. Theoretical results indicated superior inhibitory capability PyB. reactivity studied system explained light Conceptual Density Functional Theory based calculations electronic structure principles. binding energy, which reflects power interaction between Fe(110) PyB, to be 3.43 eV. Binding energies calculated both DFT MD MC simulations support adsorption chemical, noted section.
