In this study, the ultimate bearing capacity of shallow strip footings resting on a geosynthetic-reinforced soil mass subjected to inclined and eccentric combined loading is rigorously examined through well-established method lower bound limit analysis (LA) in conjunction with finite element (FE) second-order cone programming (SOCP). Lower formulation modified consider tensile force geosynthetic layer so as account for both pullout (sliding) rupture (structural) modes reinforcement failure. The effects several parameters, including embedment depth (u) strength (T u ) along load inclination angle (α) eccentricity (e), ratio (BCR) failure envelopes overlying foundation are discussed. results generally show marked increase surface footing against inclusion single layer. Results also reveal that second intermediate might be required bear dual performance vertical concentric scenarios more effectively support footing.

Geosynthetics play a pivotal role in modern infrastructure projects, with geogrids serving as common choice for enhancing bearing capacity and reducing soil settlement road construction. This study investigates the influence of density uniformity coefficients on geogrid-reinforced sandy gravelly soils through series consolidated drained triaxial tests. The research covers six distinct types from Lithuania, each characterized by particle size distribution analysis classified using various standards. A polyester biaxial geogrid is employed, test specimens are prepared without reinforcement. Triaxial compression tests performed at different cell pressures, mirroring real-world conditions results highlight critical pressure reinforcement effect, higher pressures geogrid’s influence. also emphasizes importance type, gravel consistently exhibit deviatoric stress than soils. Notably, enhances cohesion but reduces angle internal friction most cases. Overall, this provides valuable insights into intricate interplay between properties, reinforcement, pressure, shedding light mechanical behavior geosynthetic-reinforced construction applications.
